84 años cumple hoy el cantante, compositor y productor
Eddie Holland, nacido en Detroit (Michigan). Aunque fue un artista de
Motown que grabó algún hit menor como 'Jamie' (1961), sufría de miedo escénico y se retiró de los escenarios integrándose en el equipo de compositores y productores
Holland-Dozier-Holland.
Entre los tres fueron responsables de la mayoría de
los hits de
Martha and the Vandellas, Supremes, Four Tops e
Isley Brothers entre otros, escribiendo temas fundamentales en la historia de
Motown Records y el soul americano como 'Heatwave', 'Quicksand', 'Where did our love go', 'Baby I need your loving', 'Baby love', 'How sweet it is (To be loved by you)', 'Nowhere to run', 'Back in my arms again', 'I can't help myself', 'You can't hurry love', 'Reach out I'll be there', 'You keep me hanging on', 'Standing in the shadows of love' y 'Band of love' entre muchos otros. Eddie era el letrista del trio y también trabajó para
Norman Whitfield escribiendo letras para los temas de
Marvelettes y
Temptations. Holland realizó grabaciones como cantante desde 1958 hasta 1964 y además de su hit,
'Jamie', consiguió que alguna más entrara en las listas como
'Leaving here',
'Just ain't enough love' y
'Candy to me', los tres temas publicados en 1964.
