El 23 de mayo de 1975 se publicó 'Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy', el noveno disco de estudio de Elton John. Fue el primer álbum de la historia que debutó como nº1 en las listas, donde permaneció siete semanas. También fue el último -hasta 'Too Low For Zero' (1983)- en el que al pianista le acompañaba su base de ritmo habitual (Dee Murray y Nigel Olsson)
