LP 1987: ‘STRANGEWAYS, HERE WE COME’ (The Smiths)

El 22 de septiembre de 1987 se publicó en Estados Unidos (en el Reino Unido fue una semana después, el 28) el cuarto y último álbum de la banda británica The Smiths que contenía diez temas compuestos por el guitarrista Johnny Marr con letras del cantante Morrissey. Aunque la crítica encumbró su obra anterior, Marr y Morrissey consideran este su mejor trabajo. El álbum alcanzó el puesto 2º de las listas británicas y el single que se extrajo, ‘Girlfriend in a coma’ fue nº13. Slant Magazine lo incluyó entre los mejores 70 álbumes de los años ochenta comentando: “La discusión sobre si los Smiths acabaron su carrera con el mejor de sus álbumes o no, lleva ya casi un cuarto de siglo, pero definitivamente fue su trabajo más rico y suntuoso.”
