single 1966: 'HOMEWARD BOUND' (Simon & Garfunkel)

El 19 de enero de 1966 se publicó el single del dúo Simon & Garfunkel 'Homeward bound' (De camino a casa), grabado en las sesiones de su segundo LP, 'Sounds of Silence' e incluido en Estados Unidos en su tercer trabajo: 'Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme' (En Inglaterra, en cambio el tema se incluyó en 'Sounds of Silence'). Escrito durante su estancia en Londres en 1964, la idea le surgió a Paul Simon en una estación de ferrocarril de Widnes ("I'm sitting in the railway station..."), una localidad cercana a Liverpool donde Simon había estado actuando. Una larga espera del tren con destino a Londres le sirvió para desarrollar esta canción llena de nostalgia por el hogar y los brazos de su amada. Actualmente existe una placa conmemorativa en la estación de Widnes recordando el hecho. 'Homeward bound' fue, tras el tremendo éxito de su single debut 'The sound of silence', el segundo sencillo del dúo y fue top5 en el Hot100, permaneciendo doce semanas en lista.
